Will a Torker II cause a loss of low end power on a street 408 big block?
I assume that any benefits for this intake aren't until 4800 RPM and above. My cam is a 270 Comp Magnum so this may be a weak combination.

Any suggestions for a dual plane intake that will fit under the stock hood of a 67 Chevelle would be appreciated.

Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap is about the best intake out there.

I'm selling a torquer intake in the classiefied section..I also have a 408 BBc..the intake produced great all the way through from 1500 -6500 on the dyno...But I actually picked up another 7hp and 12lbs of torque with the performer rpm..I bought the complete eddy torquer package as I was listening and fell for the sells pitch..Good intake though...The air gap is the way to go if it will fit though..Not to mention they look better on the KOOL scale..

I'd save a few bucks, just get the RPM intake.
Will be close but lotsa guys use the intake on 67s with an eye on the drop base for the air cleaner

The Air Gap feature is EYE CANDY, makes no more power on a street car

I did not know that..I always had the impression that they did?? I have never had one on a dyno before..but was considering it for next project....What is the down fall of it?

AIr gap wont give any SOTP improvement.

Torker II is a low end dog. once above 5-5500 youll feel the kick in the pants their ad describes but oitherwise they are a bit sluggish in comparison to a good dual plane.

1. Think about it...
Drag car you cool the engine between rounds or ice the intake, not a hot street car engine bay....Average car, heat soak in 15 min will kill any potential benefits

2. Dave Freiberger did a test, same SBC engine, Air Gap and regular RPM
Results within 1-2 horses. Someone hung the vid up here a few months ago

3. My source, former long-time Edelbrock employee

To Eddy's credit, it is a good-looking intake. Looks trick.
Ya know, I bought my RPM, new, 1993.....they were a relatively new design then. That is a LONG run fellas!

Torkers were the hot item.............................................. ....in 1970!!! The air gap is worlds better than 40 year old technology.

YUP, what I said....but RPM / RPM Air Gap technology is already 15+ years old. The Torker was OK in its day, 1970s and 1980s....still ok if you have a BBC Shark Vette with the stock BBC hood.....but it will be down on low end grunt, midrange, and argueably top end vs an RPM family intake

Thanks for the info...as I only go to track with my rides about once a year I'll stick with what I know...Thanks again Robert:thumbsup:

P.S. Maybe I should post that intake on a vette site..l:)
