: Need Help! General Kinetics 300M cam specs
Camfire2 Sep 17th, 08, 1:44 AM I have a Solid lifter General kinetics cam in my 377 sbc drag car. I ABSOLUTELY love this cam, Unfortunately the #6 cylinder cracked and I now have to replace the block. I am worried about reusing the old cam/lifters in a new block as I have never had any luck with break in after a block change. I purchased this cam from a circle track racer many years ago new but no box and no card. I know roughly what the lift and duration #'s are but now I would really like to have another twin to it ground for me. This camshaft flat out worked and I want another! The #'s are as follows 372L 300M 108C. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

From another forum..
"General Kinetics cams= C.=Chevrolet
M= Mechanical
H= Hydraulic
1= Small block
2= Big block
300= Advertised Intake duration with 1.5 rocker
a-z letter suffix= modification of original design. More exh dur., changed centerline, changed exh pattern, etc. EXCEPT the "R" series of "Redline" cams. These were the "White box" mass produced street cams that you can still buy under a dozen different brand names."
Maybe UDHarold will stop by this thread and help with some more ID info..

possibly 372 cam lift which would be .558 lift with a 1.5 rocker. 300M is likely the advertised duration and the M is mechanical. 108 should be lobe sepration. Just a guess.

eric13617 Sep 21st, 08, 9:29 PM Just a thought but I would assume that someone like " Wolfplace" or "CNC Blocks ", among others, can "profile" your cam and tell you exactly, what's what.
