Opinions on a jeep wrangler 4x4 unlimited? I'm thinking about possibly buying one and am just looking for opinions. Also wondering about average gas mileage? Any info appreciated since I like personal opinions over consumer reports or any of that.
Thanks

I absolutely love them! I have investigated and read up on them but don't personally own one. If I went with one it'd be the Rubicon package as it already includes about all the off-road amenities I would ever take advantage of. Serious duty vehicle.
Prices are still high though (around $30K for what I priced) and my friend's 2-door Wrangler only gets him 14-15 mpg in mixed driving.
Funny...you and I share the same good taste in vehicles, including the '71! ;)

I bought a 2007 when they first came out. I loved it. I got the x model (base) but with 4:10 posi option (i think it was the towing pkg) Who need's power windows and door locks in a jeep? The main differences between the Rubicon and the base model is the Rubi has a dana 44 front end and it has electronic sway bar disconects. I think it also has electric lockers front and rear. I bought the base and managed to keep it stock for 1 month. I then ordered a 4"lift kit and 35" tires and new rims and went to town. The jeep was very comfortable stock or lifted. One thing I did notice was the MPG with the 3.8 v-6 was not as good as I expected. I got 16-17 on or off highway, lifted or stock, it just didn't matter. If you do lift one, be prepared to re-gear it. The 4:10's were marginal with the 35's , I was looking to go 4:56. Check out www.jk-forum.com (http://www.jk-forum.com) it is a good site for info (like this one) . Any other questions - pm me and I'll see if I can remember( I sold mine after 9 months for 2500 more than I had in it! I had to sell, started new job complete with pay cut so I had to cut back. Either the jeep or the chevelle. guess you know which one won!)

Awesome! Yeah I think they are badass. My only concern is the gas mileage....but I guess I could live with it. My figureing is that it must be pretty solid.....it's a Jeep. Good turn around value also. Any of you guys have any problems with them, or is the general concensus that they are solid? They seem pretty basic/easy to work on....as in there's room which I also like.
Thanks for comments....keep them coming!
