I have a stock Rochester 2-bbl carb from '71. I've been told it flows about 390 cfm. I seem to think I'd like it to flow 500 cfm. Is there a way to rework the carb to flow that much, and is this a smart idea? How do you rework cfm flow on carbs like these? Thanks...if cam or combo info or anything is needed I'll be able to get that.

The Carb shop sells 2GC's with ratings over 600cfm. You can also get rebuilt 500cfm Rochesters from Speedway.

Thanks but I kind of wanted to maybe make this a little project on my own and see what I can do. Is there a way to do it myself or do I need a kit or something? What determines how much a carb will flow anyway?
