I recently rebuilt my Holley 1850 (600) and when i fired it up it ran good but started spilling gas out the vent tube at the top front of the carb.I tried lowering the float but no luck. Also started dripping fuel aroung the choke linkage. This was my first rebuild attempt.Any tips? Thanks.

Sounds like the needle and seat is sticking, it could be debris from the fuel line or just faulty. Take it out and inspect, also make sure the float moves up and down freely. It's a basic setup, I'm sure you'll figure it out. You want the fuel level set so it is level with the bottom of the sight plug hole.

When i take out the sight plug fuel is just below the hole,if i rock the car a little will trickle out.I think that is the correct setting. I will check the needle and seat. Will this cause it to drip around the choke or do i have a bad seal there? I have a stocl mechanical fuel pump so i dont think its a high fuel pressure problem.

Fuel pressure, needle valve and seat, float level is all it can be, if fuel is coming out the vent tubes

70isfine; Check the stock pump pressure.Believe it or not, they put out more pressure, just less volume, than performance aftermarket pumps. My last produced 9 psi at idle, and eleven+ by 1500 rpm.I installed a regulator, set it at 6 psi,and no more problem. Steve
