Every SS396 crossed flag emblems I see have a white and black checkered flag. The ones on my 67 Impala are red and black checkers. I can't check my 67 Malibu because it had the emblems removed when I got it. There doesn't seem to be any white under the red and the emblems appear to be original. Are these some cheap after market emblems? Did someone paint them long ago or did Chevy run out of white paint one day? Any ideas?

Looking in a parts book I have here it looks to me that they are Red,Black and white?
