Hi
I'm new to the forum and I'm hoping to get some help in identifying a possible LS6 car from Canada. Has GM of Canada released any definitive info on whether any LS6 cars were built in Oshawa, Ontario? I found a car that has all the LS6 options (round gauges, LS6 intake, etc.) that the owner claims is an Oshawa car. He says he has the protect-o-plate, buildsheet, etc. that shows it to be an LS6 car. He says he contacted GM Canada 20 years ago when he first got the car used and they sent him copies of the originals. I know some sites quote that if you have a 1 in the 7th position on the VIN you have an Oshawa car and can order your cars paperwork. Does anybody have any up to date info? Hypothetically, if the car is an Canadian LS6/4spd car with paperwork, it's super rare. Can anybody offer an approximate value for the car? I'm in negotiations for the car and want to know what I should pay. The owner is finding the protect-o-plate and buildsheet and is suppose to call me in the next day or two to see them. Any help would be greatly appreciated and time is of the essence. This car was hidden for the last twenty years and may disappear for another twenty if I don't get it. The owner does not have it for sell but I'm a family friend who has loved LS6's since I was a kid and he's considering it enough to talk offers.
Thanks, Steve.

Hi Guys
Thanks for all the info. I think I'm real close to knowing what the car is. I got the VIN and I'm going to run it through GM Canada and pay the extra $70 to get it back tomorrow to know for sure. But, I believe it's real. From what I've read the 231 import LS6's had to come from either Kansas or Baltimore to be Canadian exports. This car has a B for Baltimore. The owner told me he had the doc's to prove it's a real LS6 with papers from GM Canada that he got twenty years ago. As I said before he's an honest guy and family friend so I believe him and the B in the VIN backs up why he has the LS6 paperwork. It has all the things to look for and has been in storage for twenty years which I know to be a fact. I haven't been able to check the block or head numbers because as you guys know, it's a pain to check them and I have back problems. Because I don't know for sure, too be safe lets say it has a factory warranty replacement LS6 but It does have the correct LS6 carb, intake, M22, posi 3:31, round gauges, ss back bumper pad, ivory ss interior, hood pins, factory cowl hood with flapper, etc. If the block is a service replacement the Canadian paperwork is worth it's weight in gold because it's still only one of 231 cars with provable paperwork. No? I need help with a fair price. I know it's impossible to appraise a car over the internet but an average restored price would give me an idea how much money I can justify for restoration. If the car is worth roughly $75.000 restored and will cost $50.000 to restore, I know $25.000 is the fairest offer for both of us. Lets say hypothetically the car is an LS6/M22/PS/PB/factory bench/3:31 posi/cranberry red, black stripes, cowl with flapper, no vinyl roof, gauge package, no console, low options with the rare Canadian paperwork but indeed had a factory service replacement LS6 short or long block with original numbers matching rearend, M22, intake, carb, exhaust, distributor, etc. Whats a safe figure that this car would bring restored. If the block and heads are original then whats the value? I haven't seen the SS steering wheel so it may be missing, it has an incorrect HD big block station wagon rad, and a manual steering box that is not original (it had power). I want it to be a fair deal for both of us. I never dreamed of the barn find story happening to me. After putting my finance through 4 years of university sacrificing my love of cars to pay the bills, I never thought I'd have a chance at an LS6. Everybody keep the hope alive. Their still out there. I hope this is some good karma coming my way. I need it! lol Any and all info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Steve.
