I recently won an auction on a factory am/fm radio for my 70 SS Elcamino. It did not come with any of the factory brackets to mount it in the dash.
I looked at the bracket that National Parts Depot offers and on Ebay. All I am seeing is one small bracket with a bend in it.Given the size of the factory radio,I am having a hard time believing that that single bracket is strong enough to support such a big radio.
My question:
Can sombody please tell me what brackets I need and where I can find them? Or is the one bracket that is being sold through National Parts Depot all that is required for a factory installation? Thank you in advance to any one that can help answer this question. Rod ;)

I know, your "new" radio weighs about as much as a house brick. Believe it or not, that little itty bitty "L" shaped bracket is all that there is. The knob shafts support the front of the radio via the dash carrier and the back of the radio is supported by the metal channel that runs along the bottom edge of the dash carrier, via that "L" shaped bracket. The bracket attaches to the r.h. side of the radio chassis at the back bottom corner with the existing chassis screw. I don't recall for sure, but you may need a "J" nut (#3885999) to attach the "L" bracket to the metal channel.

Hi Rich.Thank you for taking the time to answer my question and explain the installation process.Very much appreciated!
It's still hard to believe that the single bracket is enough to support the radio but your now the second person that said it is. Thanks again, Rod
