i've noticed nascar air filter housings are white.are any other parts white? what about the engine bay? i assume this is a heat-reducing tactic.anyone familiar with this? its got me thinking...hmmmm...

i think it's to make it easier to see under the hood. besides, white reflects light. i remember one time on a pitch black road i had to check my oil level. i had my buddy in a white tshirt stand in front of my headlight with my high beams on. that reflected enough light for me to get the dipstick back in and make a couple other carb adjustments, lol.

some parts are painted a certain color mandated by NASCAR to make them easier to see if they fall onto the track to speed up cleanup or kee[p them from getting run over by another car after a "racing incident". for example- fuel cells are red, and driveshafts are white.
i know some teams paint the undersides and interiors light colors to make it easier to spot fluid leaks and what not.
