I know it's not a Chevelle, but I wonder what a one owner Daytona will bring.

I saw the car today and the auction is tomorrow. The description says that the car is much better than it is. The auctioneer claims one dealer repaint, yet the car has a very poor acrylic enamel paint job. Bad orange peel and dirt in it everywhere. The orange is "too" orange, almost like the dukes of hazzard and a blind man did the masking. Some of the rubber and chrome have 1/2 an inch of overspray on them! I think the car will be lucky to draw 100K.

Should still get some good coin on it.

I saw the car today and the auction is tomorrow. Paul

I didn't find out about this until about 6:00 PM tonight (viewing closed) or I also would have stopped by to take a look Paul. I drove right by the auction house earlier today. From the pictures on the website it sure needs some TLC "plus".

Did you happen to find out who the owner is or what the estate name is? It was sold new at Kingston Dodge Chrysler and I remember seeing it a few times way back then in my early Musclecar days. First time I saw it I'm sure I said to myself something like "What the heck is that thing?"

Not my cup of tea for sure, but from the description it sure has some important significance.

The sale is for Dr. Chesebrough. He has decided to liquidate some of his cars and parts. The auction description is at the start of this thread. If you watch the video he claims the dealer repainted the car due to paint peeling when nearly new. I could have done a better paint job in my driveway! It is too bad that the car wasn't better cared for. It would take a lot of time and money to make it right but a profit could still be made in the future if the car sells for a reasonable price. The interior needs door panels due to aftermarket speakers and the console has had some damage due to a compass being installed. Nothing that can't be repaired though.

Something looks "odd". I don't see the braces for the wing in the trunk picture....... Seem to remember them in the ones I've seen over the years.

edit....... just watched the video and he claims the 'early' ones didn't have the struts. First I ever heard of this.

I can't say for sure but those look like the wheels that were recalled in the 70's.That may be a sign of it's true mileage and history

I think it was the Kelsey-Hayes wheels that were recalled. Those are just full wheel covers. My uncle owned a 69 Charger RT/SE new and it had those wheel covers on it.

The sicissor jack is the most expensive part to a Daytona. Never heard of the no brace on the early cars, neat.

What's that on the console behind the shifter?

Just learned the car sold for $112,000 plus 14% buyer's fee. Add another 13% for Provincial Sales tax and Goods and Services tax and you've got a lot in this thing. Car is going to Toronto.

The owner from R & M Classcic Cars, which runs some very prominant auctions and does some top quality restorations, came down yesterday to look at the car and said "If he would have bought the car on-line based on the description he would have sued them for false representation".

Hi Don, I was thinking the same thing about the description misrepresenting the car. The owner of the car in a video does the description so I think the auction house would be off the hook. The car needs about $10 grand of paint work to make it right and door interior panels (they have speaker holes in them) and the console repaired where a cheap compass was installed. The rest of the interior needs a good cleaning. There could be some potential in making a profit on the car in the future if the markets improve, but you would need money to make it happen. Maybe we will see it at Barrett-Jackson in a year or two.
