A factory fan with numbers stamped on them. The numbers face the firewall. The steel hub that the blades are attached to, The blades are in front of the hub. E-Z fix.
In 72-73 I put a new clutch in my 70 LS-5 El Camino, When I went to Adj. the clutch, OPPS, WRONG throw out bearing. Not an E-Z fix !!

I also noticed the O.E.M. style hose connectors on the water pump and intake. Very nice. It is a correct item that very few engines have.

Which will probably get taken off, as I have to do some fancy work to get the bypass hose to hook up, or just block it off. I'll feel more comfortabe with an angled fitting from the intake, so 2 of them will likely be replaced for sure.

the fan in the picture looks ok to me. turning clockwise will pull air thru the radiator.

Dan, I used to run that RPM air gap intake, I think I may still have the special stock looking bypass hose I used with it.

John, I think I can get away with the repro bypass hose ( I'll have to cut it to size ), just need an angled fitting.

I know this is solved, but I just thought I would mention that the fan blades should "cup" the air. Sort of like the difference between a forehand and backhand swing.

Side note, I once restored an MGB. we had this old guy at the shop who was always looking over shoulders, and this tay it was my turn. He looks and says "You got the fan on backwards." I said "What?" and he goes, "you need to turn the fan around because that way it is going to try to blow the air forward." So I handed him a wrench and went to get some lunch. When I got back, he was standing there scratching his head with a weird expression on his face. "What's up? You get the fan on the right way now?" He says, "You know it's the funniest thing, I KNOW I turned it around, I even marked it so I would know I did, but it still goes the other way." I felt sorry for him, so I climbed in the car ans said "Watch the fan" and turned the key. "You get it now?" Naww" he goes, "You got the battery in backwards TOO!" :D:D:D I think I hurt myself when I hit the floor from laughing so hard.
He was a cool old dude. He could fix anything if one of the other guys redid it after he left. :D
