My SS 454 72 Chevelle’s Horn does not work from inside, but will honk if wired direct. The Horn Relay must be stuck or bad. Thought the Horn Relay was located on Firewall over Brake Booster, but the Replacement does not look at all like the thing on the Firewall. Is the real Horn Relay mounted somewhere else? Where can you buy a 1972 Horn Relay Replacement?

I think that it is mounted on the drivers side radiator support on the engine side next to voltage regulator.

The horn relay is on the firewall above the vacum booster. I would Imagine that ss396 would have them.

'72 was mounted on the firewall above the brake boster and unique to that year. I am not sure they are repopped, may need to search for a good used original. I hear they are hard to find.

The original type 72 horn relays are almost impossible to find, last I heard.

Do you care if it's stock? Otherwise, would other ones work for it?

The picture above sent by Dean looks like mine!
Parts stores show no Relays with the big post that appears to be attached.

Like mentioned above...
On the firewall above the brake booster and very hard to find a replacement.

They are impossible to find but pretty easy to fix. All that's inside is a coil and a couple contacts. Clean up the contacts and make sure the coil is good. The coil wire on mine was broken off and all it took was a dab of solder to repair.

They sell replacements, just not the correct factory matching part.

Dean,
Purchased a Horn Relay from the Last Detail Corvette Parts web site and it was a direct replacement. Looks and works great. :hurray: Thanks for the tip!

I just ordered one from www.tld-corvette.com as well (via phone). They don't have it in, but told me they will be getting more within a couple days and will send me the original Delco for the same price if the replacement doesn't show up..... It was not cheap though... $47 for me, that beats the second best price I found though, which was $80.
