: Cats out of the bag(official smack talk thread)
FourEightyNine Sep 10th, 08, 11:42 PM So no more hiding I guess, Berg calls me and no hello or anything just "so what are you doing!?!?!?" haha:thumbsup:
I was debating wether tell him at that point or not, he was sure lucky Mike was there to pursuade me to tell him.
So heres what Mike and I have been working on.
The chevelle is now sporting a fiberglass decklid, crash bars removed, heater removed, inner fenders removed, bumper removed, hood removed.:D Just a pound here and there:hurray:
The goal of the season is for the biggest wheelies possible. I have new front springs on the way that will mimic hydraulics, and a little more power on the way with some bigger headers:beers:
Oh and Berg, you know my oil issue was a little odd right? Turns out I am about 1/2-3/4" above the windage tray its dragging right through it. My buddy said he accidently did that once and it slowed his car down almost two tenths, drained the oil at the track and it picked it up to where it normally ran.
Think you can still take me without the bottle?:noway:
65lkey Sep 10th, 08, 11:44 PM I think taking the hood off may hurt you. especially how fast you going.
OutCast Sep 10th, 08, 11:45 PM Go Brian Go !!!

haha luckly my oil pan sits about a 1/2-3/4" above my cross member so I should be alright there. The lowest thing is gona be the headers. But I should be fine unless I go past the tipping point the dump the throttle while at the same time making a brown streak:D
Jim_D Sep 11th, 08, 12:37 PM You guys can pop all the wheelies and use all the laughing gas ya want, nobody can touch me, not even Mr. Monza (Martin).
That is unless one of you borrows somebody's race car, sound familiar????
BTW, I will be there the 19th and 20th at the track that has a hump.
FourEightyNine Sep 11th, 08, 12:51 PM We dont do it to catch up with you Jim its just how we have built our race cars.
Berg has a NOS fetish....obviously
Mine is wheelies
And yours is getting down the track
The way I have built my car running 9" wide slicks I have to get the front end in the air in order to hook, by trasnfering as much weight onto the rears as possible.
I would really like to race yah on Friday though. Just dont come by me on race day last time I raced I had the points leader by 3 car lengths at the finish line, my -.003 light to their .099 light. I tend to scare people.:D
Mr. Monza Sep 11th, 08, 12:53 PM Yep no one can touch your tube framed hollowed out Chevelle with thier either stock or back halfed chassis cars, if Taz were a full out tube chassis my lil small block would spank yer big block and, wheelies look cool, feel cool, better crowd pleasing stuff, SO THERE! Oh Jim check yer calender, no one will be at Bremerton on Thurs, guess that's how yer goin' to win! (19-21 are Bremerton race dates)

Now that I have fixed all of my electrical issues my MSD and spark plug issues should be behind me an I ought to run a little quicker.
It would be un to race the yellow bird, I will adjust the mirror so I can see you.
Berg, I want you no matter what you race. If you are a good boy I will let you run my car.

Always an excuse when somebody runs faster,.... Sound familiar. :D
So, if Roger had ran his car and ran the 9.22 @ 151 MPH, would it have been "nobody can beat me still". Oh ya, did I tell ya about running 151 MPH in a SHOW POODLE, not 140 like some SLOW cars. Just think if it was actually a race car instead of a show poodle, Probably 160 MPH. :hurray:

FRYNTYR Sep 11th, 08, 2:39 PM One question for all, who all here runs licensed street legal cars at the drags and who runs A CAR that is strickly a track car? Brett was told last year that inappropriate comments re my crew will incur my wrath. I hope that this serves as a reminder.
Should he ever have kids, he may grow to understand what is fair and what is foul. Hopefully he will mature in this regard. Inappropriate comments have kept my crew at home vs enjoying family time at the track.
I also told him nicely long ago that 'Georgy' etc is inappropriate. He likes to push buttons but I'll just chalk this up to more bad manners, a lack of discipline, and some ill-found feeling of personal security. Yes, Brett is outa arm-reach for the present and feeling cocky.
I realize that I have picked on Brett's 'habits' or 'supposed habits' just like the rest of you so I am not a saint in throwing the muck around.

If I recall correctly, Other Greg and I were the last men standing in Bremerton. We just wanted to make sure the little tykes were all tucked in and safe from the bogeyman. That's what us old timers do to make sure the little whippersnappers have a shot at making it to our ripe ol' age. ;)

 I dont know where this has come from, way out of left field. George, I have always been respectful to you and exhibit excellent "manners". You have absolutely no reason to feel that you cannot bring your crew to the track, that is rediculous if you think I would act out of line or innapropriate and those are your own issues with personal security I could care less about. You are far out of line in your comments posted here to "call me out". I still consider you a friend but these kinds of comments really dont instill me with any confidence in your maturity or sanity. curley8788 Sep 13th, 08, 1:56 AM it is simply not possible for an 18 year old to fund a painted NICE classic car in the 13s or better without "help." first of all you need to be 16 to work. second of all you get paid minimum wage or somewere right above that. third of all u go to school FULL TIME. its not just the car too, its the insurance, taxes, tags etc etc. i am now 20 and i just started driving my primered 68 with an interior that is half done when i was 19. i worked my balls off and if i knew then what i know now, i would have a finished interior 11 second car that probably still wouldnt have any respectable paint. and i barely drive mine now because of college and work.
I CASHED MY LIFE INSURANCE POLICY IN WHEN I WAS 15 TO BUY THE CAR. IT WAS 3300 WITH A BUNCH OF EXTRA PARTS AND I FUNDED IT 3/4 WITH MY POLICY AND THE REST WAS BIRTHDAY/BONDS MONEY I HAD SAVED THROUGHOUT MY ENTIRE SHORT LIFE.
Paul, there is no way you paid for that car 100%. not even 75%. do the math

That will be a while. My '66 will be mainly a street car with all the money I spent over the years going towards the Pro-Touring goal. That was of course before I met this group. I plan to build the '70 for the track and keep it a sbc, it should be fun trying to get that barge moving well with little cubes. That means I have to finish the 496 for the '66 too and that will have to wait untill the '70 makes it to the track. Everyone here has been good so far, but if I don't make a showing by next spring I might get shunned from TCNW for ever:D

1966malibu Sep 14th, 08, 2:19 AM I am going to back up Paul on this thread . I remember the first Chevelle he bought and what a POS it was. I thought he was nuts to spend any money on such a rusty '66+'67 ( I think it had a 66 front clip on a 67 body ). But he was able to find a buyer for it and flipped it for a little profit. It seems Paul has a talent for swapping, trading, upgrading, flipping and selling stuff to help himself out. It just shows he is industrious and able to figures stuff out. The kid is 18 we should all remember that when "WE" give him a hard time :D. I am just jealous because at 18 I had no idea how to network to get stuff. Because of this everything I bought for the Chevelle was at retail. It's hard enough to maintain one of these cars on a no-budget budget let alone do upgrades. So I respect Paul for what he has achieved in a short time. But I still think I can kick his sorry a$$ at the tree ;).
primernovaben Sep 14th, 08, 3:34 AM for all its worth i totally respect someone who is 18 having a car as cherry as that one. i have had the nova since i was 13 but little to no know how and networking the only real "car guy" i knew was a step uncle who i hardly ever saw so i had to learn everything i did by myself and im glad i had the experience of figuring it all out on my own. my dad could help me worth nothin the only guy i had to go to was my drunk auto shop teacher so i know what its like havin a muscle car at a young age but my experience was all on my own not with a 30x72 shop with a couple chevelles a camino, impala and well that civic h/b to boot
1966malibu Sep 14th, 08, 3:54 AM Ben that story sounds very familiar to me . I respect where all of us have come from. It just seemed to me that M.G. was being picked on about a few things that were not his doing (like having cool car people parents).

I think that spider-web grill you made is one of the coolest one-off things I've seen.

65lkey Sep 14th, 08, 2:11 PM Thanks guys it really means a lot. I get it all the time that that isn't my car, but it is. I kinda went the other way from my parents though they just like to cruise and go to car show. I like going fast and smokey burnouts

and sir you are going to have me for some time. my goal with the next engine is to run 11.50s on motor with 87 octane. and that will be it for my street car. later on ill build a race car like you guys have. not worried about that now though.

65lkey Sep 14th, 08, 9:40 PM Alright Darryl I'll pull my sway bar off and and before I pull the motor I'll put my buddy's 250 plate shot on and spray out of the hole. You've got to take the picture. I've only have a few more months of being 18. I didn't know they had chevelle in 1876 when you graduated

Yeah, back in those days, you could SEE the horsepower, in fact, you had to curry comb and feed them at the end of the ride.............................
