I just sanded my repop fenders with a DA sander and 80 grit (the DA is not the magic tool I was hoping it would be...) but I was having a hard time getting the epoxy primer or whatever coating that is completely scrubbed off the metal. Is it ok to leave some small bit of it when I epoxy prime the fender? The reason I ask is that folks seem to think that leaving that coating on will cause all sorts of issues.

However, I am finding it darn near impossible to get behind the braces and such to get the coating off. What do you guys do about that, sand blast it out???

Anyway, as long as you guys say it's ok to prime over it, I'm ready to spray tomorrow! (the weather better be nice.... or else!)

It sounds like you are trying to sand the E-coat off which is not easy or desirable. Just wipe it with some wax and grease remover, rough it up with some 400 grit and shoot. Life will be good.

Yeh, I always have left the factory protective coat on. As has been said just sand it, wipe it down, prime it,shoot it:thumbsup:
