I have located bucket seat frames for my 1966 Malibu (replacing bench) but they do not have the seat back release mechanism in them. Someone already cannabalized I guess. I have heard that they are made now, but cannot find them advertised anywhere. Does anyone know where to get a new set for my buckets?

There where no seat back locks for '66, the seats for a '67 are the same but with the locks if you want them.

Yes, there are not seat back release buttons as the seat moves freely.
66 is the first year of the strato bucket seat and the only year without the locking mechanism.

Federal safety regulation mandated seat back locks for 67. I can't believe all the 66 with 67 seats. Wonder if you have a 67 car and 66 seats, can you get a ticket?

I'm pretty sure most cops wouldn't even know that was a requirement and would even check to see if they locked back. 64elkynss

Just kidding; don't think they would know the difference.
