Anyone know of a reputable person/company that rebuilds these or will take mine as a core? I've found a guy on ebay that sells them but don't know anything about them. I would guess that some of you have done this.

Thanks,

Bob

I have never heard anything bad about these guys. However, they are not cheap. But they have some rare parts that others may not be able to supply.

Recently someone on the Corvetteforum recommended this company.

Bob-

Another vote for "Columns Galore" located on Long Island, NY. They sold me a refurbished tilt column for my Pro Touring '71, and it was upgraded to include a late model GM wand (high beam dimmer switch, wipers, cruise) with all new internal cancel cam, new ignition switch, paint, direct fit....

Pricey, but a one-stop solution.

I have also bought tilts from an Ebay seller, their company is called 1AAuto.com Check them out too. Good luck... :)

GMtilt sold me one and I am extremely happy with it. I first purchased one through 1A, it was backordered and I had to bug them to see if it was in, yet. When it came in, they didn't call me. Their distributor (in Texas) sent one to me with a different spline. (it didn't fit correctly). In their defense, I will say that the incorrect shaft wasn't 1A's fault, as it was their distributor.

I bought one from Wayne athttp://www.gmtiltsteeringcolumn.com/services.html He does great work, I very pleased. One thing to keep in mind (That I Didn't) is if the new Ignition switch and key are supplied, see if you can get the door locks keyed the same. This is the situation I'm in right now. I haven't bought my door locks yet, pondering what to do,. I would like to keep it correct (Ignition and door lock keyd the same) Anyone have any ideas??

Just contacted Wayne at GM Tilt. Asked him to verify key situation listed above. He said 1972 Ignition was an only key. The other key (round) fits all other locks. (Doors, trunk, glove box, console) 1970 was the last year ignition and doors used the same key. I didn't mean to barge in on this post, but I just wanted to clear things up that I started :D
