So I'm just about done with the engine tear down (complete this week) and I'll begin to clean and repaint the block. I'm preparing this engine for a 1920's-1940's hot rod and obviously the engine will be very visible. My question is, has anyone used any other colors than chevy orange on a 350? How did it turn out? I'm looking for something different to do, since chevy orange is the obvious choice. I'd like to go with something a little more neutral.

I did Daytona Yellow for a customer...it was BRIGHT, but he loved it...we have also done some red which I liked, but others did not, I think colorwise I like ford blue the best..thats the only thing like abou ford...lol....its all in prefrence.. This is a ford 408 stroker we did not long ago...but I love the looks...ford blue and both the polished aluminum and basic aluminum mesh very well together. I wouldnt mind it on a chevy.

Looks pretty good! I've seen the chevy orange, ford blue, and pontiac green in person, but are these really the only colors? I did see a fire engine red block (which I thought was alittle overkill), but it matched the fire engine car. I was toying around with dark grey or black. But I've never seen these used before.

Neutral color...maybe a med/darker grey?
This is POR-15 engine enamel, used to be called Titanium. Probably too bright for what you want.
