At the recommendation of alot of car mags (Chevy HiPerf, etc) I installed a Currie rear end in my 69 Chevelle. It has a 350 and it had a TH350 (which is going to be replaced). Before I pulled the engine and tranny I tried in the old drive shaft with the new rear end,and it was about 3-4 inches too short. Is there anyone else with this issue? I know there are trannies with different length tail shafts-should I pursue this option or am I going to have to have a freaking custom driveshaft fabricated for this. If so, why don't the authors of these mag articles warn us about potential problems with driveshaft fitment issues. Sorry for the rant, but every time I turn around I'm having to justify yet another unforseen expenditure on the project to my wife. Any help appreciated. Brawley

What type of rear end did you get?

I got their 9 inch rear end with 3.70 ratio and 31 splines. I also got the spindles and 11 inch rear drum setup, their billet lower control arms, and their turnbuckle style upper control arms. Some day, I plan on putting in a 572 BB and a stouter tranny, so I thought I would plan ahead and got what I thought would be a bulletproof rear end. Brawley

If you are going to build it to handle the 572 I would buy a good driveshaft. But I believe that a long shaft trans may fit. The guys in the trans section would know more. Try posting there. I once used a long shaft 350 turbo in a 71 chevelle and a Nova driveshaft fit it perfect. I think there was about 4 inches difference but I dont know for sure.

Have you tried a new wife? you have to justify to your wife? I see more than potiental problems than the drive shaft.
