Is there any way to identify a tall deck engine other than looking up casting numbers on a 427 or 454? THANKS!!

blazerbob Jan 9th, 04, 9:26 PM Contacting the manufacturer of block would render immediate answer! :D Rumblin70SS Jan 9th, 04, 10:45 PM Thats an easy one.........if its a tall deck, the water pump outlets on the front of the block will be flush with the top of the deck when a water pump is held up to the motor. If it's a tall deck, the deck will be about 1/2" higher. It's very easy to spot.
