Guys,

I just bought a Proform main body to try. It doesn't have any info about how to know when to change the idle air bleeds. My Holley book is old enough that it doesn't seem to have any info on this. What should I look for and how do I manage these things?

I'm going to try real hard to get to the strip this weekend and run with the old carb 750VS and the new converter. I then want to try the Proform setup after I see what the converter actually does for me. Perhaps I'll have some good info about how much if any these Proform main bodies really work.

if the idle fuel screws are non responsive.
I converted 1 couple of months ago and the idle is so lean that it will die when the engine is cold.
I had to lay a rag over the carb until the heads got some heat into them so it will idle some.

So what id you have to do to fix it? Downsize the bleeds? You left me hanging there....

The Demon book may help you some,or a newer Holley book.
On my Demon I had to use the press in air bleeds, add initial timing and also modify the idle circuit in the metering block because it was so lean.
One of my race buddies did the Proform main body swap on a 750 vs and he tells me the only changes he made was the power valve and optimized the jetting.

Bear in mind you may not need to do this.
The car I worked on had a big lean idle problem it only made 8"s of vacuum at idle.
1st you have to determine if you need to change them.
For the fix I downsized the air bleeds to .060 and opened the idle fuel jets to .032

OK guys. I'll let you know how things go. I want to get a few passes in without doing anything to the carb to see what the converter did for me and then the carb mod and some more passes to see what that does. My goal is to get to a 11.9x pass this year without any bottle or new heads. Maybe a little amitious but we'll see.
