I just bought a 1968 Chevelle that was sitting in a North Dakota shed since the early 1980's. The engine and transmission are lone gone (was a 307 auto car) but I'm trying to identify what rear-end is in the car. I know that sometime during the life of the car the rear-end was changed due to the fact that each side has two sets of parking brake cables.

I read several previous posts and I can't seem to find any stampings on the passenger side axle tube. I found a date stamping of "193" on the top of the pinion side of the rear-end. On the same side towards the bottom of the pumpkin I found a stamping of #1375689 which I'm assuming is the casting number.

I think the rear-end may be a BOP from the side cut-outs in the rear cover, but I'm having a difficult time determining what it is actually from. I'm planning on doing a rebuild on the rear-end during the restoration and I need to know what I have to order parts. Any help in telling me what I have will be appreciated!! I posted a few pictures to help in the ID. This is my first post in your site so....Thanks in advance!

Buick/Olds Pontiac as you said.

From a Cutlass or Tempest likely. Very limited gears available. I had the 12 bolt version of this which was an OK rear, but I sold it and picked up a Chevy 12 bolt.

By the date code posted above, can I assume it would be from a 1973 passenger car?
