I have a '68 Malibu with a 327. I want to replace the points ignition with an HEI from Summit, part# SUM-850001R. Will this unit clear my firewall without modification?

Yes, it will clear your firewall, but it might not clear your air cleaner.

When I bought my 68 ElCam it had a 327 with HEI and it cleared just fine. When I replaced it with a 350 and used an MSD HEI, I started having problems with air cleaner clearance. Edelbrock and a bunch of other manufacturers sell a plastic spacer if you're not running a carb spacer.

My 68 Elky w/468" has an HEI and it has no clearance problems.
