bowtie6872 Sep 5th, 08, 1:30 PM easy enought to do , to a 4 " fiber cowl..
I'd use the l88 scoop in the front half of the cowl..
but different
chevy kevy Sep 5th, 08, 1:36 PM I may pick me up a fiberglass hood and try this, I would want to stick with more of a stock heigth cowl hood though, I dont know if they make stock cowl fiberglass hoods though, all I have seen is the 4 inch like this.
Northwest29 Sep 5th, 08, 1:38 PM Seems just a tad over the top unless you're racing. Looks like a Corvette hood on steroids. IMHO
chevy kevy Sep 5th, 08, 1:43 PM thats what I'm sayin, do it to a stock cowl hood and I think it would look just about right:thumbsup: but there may not be enough rise to do it on a stock hood:confused:

there is, the hood there, the "ram air scoops" . are raised.. not level with the hood
a flat velle hood + the speedshops.com 2" steel cowl scoop ..
and those ram air scoops.. or the front half of the l88 scoop
will clear.. any set up that clears a stock cowl hood
Guru68 Sep 5th, 08, 2:23 PM Am I the only one who doesnt like it one bit?
tanner Sep 5th, 08, 2:30 PM Wouldn't work in Penna ! Too high for inspection.
webfoot Sep 5th, 08, 2:47 PM Wouldn't work in Penna ! Too high for inspection.
I'm not the biggest fan, looks like a WS6 hood got its nose punched in.
Beaux Sep 5th, 08, 3:10 PM Am I the only one who doesnt like it one bit?
No. Im with ya on that one.
cuisinartvette Sep 5th, 08, 3:31 PM Black the screens out and it would help.
Bowtie-72 Sep 5th, 08, 3:31 PM If it were more like a GTO hood, I could rework my air filter setup plans since I don't have it built yet, but that's too far back for me.
sg5492 Sep 5th, 08, 3:54 PM Am I the only one who doesnt like it one bit?
It is OK but I would not do it.
 :noway:
There must be something in the air in that neighborhood among chevy owners. Note the Big Foot Chevy pick-up across the street.
Schurkey Sep 5th, 08, 5:18 PM Am I the only one who doesnt like it one bit?
Nope.
The front entrance to the scoop looks like it's exactly in the LOW-pressure area of the hood. Lucky if you aren't letting underhood air OUT.
I'd love to see some yarn tufts taped to the hood with the car going 80+ mph.
jeremy79bu Sep 5th, 08, 5:21 PM little too tall for me. maybe if it were 2" it would look better
Belair Sep 5th, 08, 5:24 PM Doesn't impress me.
Alwhite00 Sep 5th, 08, 5:26 PM Am I the only one who doesnt like it one bit?
I'm with ya' on that.

70SSOBSESSION Sep 5th, 08, 11:35 PM They could use that car in a movie and call it "Chevelle Summer"......ah never mind...

 :noway:
Too high and the grill screens should be painted flat or satin Black.

Jeffry72 Sep 6th, 08, 12:19 PM Sometimes the old and new mix well together, this time it doesn't!
Looks like it was nicely done though.
Bomber '67 Sep 6th, 08, 2:47 PM I like tall cowl hoods, my '65 has a VFN 5", but this one reminds me of the water intake on the bottom of a jet drive boat. It is not easy to do anything with a large hood scoop and have it come off well - even a lot of the pro stock scoops are ugly. The L88 scoop still looks good on a lot of cars, and the Ford teardrop looks good on the right body styles. Then there is the barn door hemi scoop that is just...HUGE.
