I'd like to see the same test done with muscle cars :)

Recently my neighbor inherited his friend possessions, including a 70 Challenger. This friend owned the car since new. While digging though the many boxes of stuff, my neighbor came across a photo album that was full of pictures, about 100 pages with 4 photos on each page. Every photo was a picture of a woman, all different women, wearing a bathing suit and standing next to, and many times laying across, the Challenger. Of course we had to study every picture closely for its archaeological value in demonstrating female bathing suit trends over 30 some years. How he got that many half-naked women to pose next to his car … well, it must have been the car because he was no Brad Pit.

I know you are, Andy69. It's an odd, but funny, story so I thought I'd share. The running joke in the neighborhood is that I'm quickly trying to restore my Chevelle so that I can start my own photo album. Now if can only get my lovely, very modest wife to put on a swim suit for a photo shoot I'd be happy !!!!

There's a bunch of ricer kids in my neighborhood that seem to always be hanging around the street when I drive home from work in the 64. Always cracks me up that when I cruise by the guys try to ignore the rumble and their girls turn and stare. Ahhh to be 25 again....

If only it really was the cars and not the money that the cars project.

Thats what turns these women on.....its not the cars, its the status those cars project about their owners. Met plenty a guy in life with a car that was fast and projected wealth and success.....and attracted women by the handfull....until those women found out where they lived (run down apartment) and that they were almost literally working to pay for a car. No savings, no real wealth, no retirement and guess what? Women left in a hurry.

This is why muscle cars generally dont bring this to the table. Women dont really understand what they are worth and what they cost when well done. The way to level out the playing field with this would be to start a campaign to get across that they take a good amount of money to do right and to maintain and can be made to be faster.

you can test this out if you want - go rent a high end car, make sure theres no tags pertaining to rental or anything. Do it for a week and see what you get. Play the rich guy in the car but then drive the chick out to eat at outback and take her home to your apartment with car parts in the kitchen. Guarantee they wont be back. Might call you to pick them up so they can pretend to have a rich man or portray that they are rich....but its all about the money and never about the car.

LOL...He said he's spending lots O time at the computer these days. Trying to sell the inherited stuff, which includes hordes of Snap-On tools and NOS Mopar stuff. Or maybe he IS scanning those pix. He's 72... might extend his life :)

I think this is the reason my 26 yr old son wants to drive the Chevelle when he visits from out of town.

Young women are always commenting on what a nice ride I am...err have.

Beaux nailed it, 99% of women could care less about your car only how you got it. They may say, :Boy, I like it" but what thay are thinking is, "If he could afford to buy that, wonder what he could afford for me?"
THey cant help it, its in their DNA-to be taken care of. Believe it

Why is it, women are always telling their man to sell their toys? Women want that MONEY you have tied up in that "junk".

Old cars (no matter the condition) = Guy must be poor
New exotic car = Guy must be rich

The way I see it, it's a WIN, WIN situation. This was my exact mission for the better half of my life. Would still be, but I havent been able to get the current one to leave for going on 16 years now... Not for the lack of trying, but apparently it takes more than one acre of crap stuffed onto 1/2 acre of property, including parts in the living room that will require carbon dating to determine how long they've been there.

Of course, I have driven a big block Chevelle since the late 70's

A better, and more poignant, scientific study would be to determine what it takes to "turn them on" for a predetermined period.... say, a nice paint job and chrome rims = 5 hours.

Then you could pro-rate it from there.

end of relationship
