511 cid BBC, Run the car, shut it off, let it sit an hour or so maybe and both float bowls are empty. I noticed this yesterday and just thought I ran it after I shut the fuel pump off.
I took out the Magneto and put an MSD in it thinking the mag was at fault. And its flooded everytime you go to start it after its been sitting even for 10 - 15 minutes.
Carb is an older 9375 4 corner idle Dom. I went to the track tonite and made it to the staging lanes where it ran out of gas. I put 5 gal. in 2 days ago and had maybe 10 -15 min. of run time. Mostly idleing or near idle. 88 jets pri. 92 sec. P/V's plugged.
I have the Carb sitting on a coffee can right now w/ the bowls filled with WD40
Any ideas on how this happening ???????

BLK64SS; Sounds like it's time for a complete rebuild of the carburetor.Either the PV plug gaskets,or the metering block gaskets are leaking, causing the fuel to leak into the intake. You can get a kit for $30-$40 and do it yourself,as they're not too difficult.Or take it to a carb shop. Steve

Fresh Rebuild. If that was cause, How does the fuel leak into the engine ? It has to be coming through the intermediate circuit or the idle circuit. It doesnt have the tiny holes drilled for the power valve circuit. A freind and I watched the carb with the fuel pump on and the engine off and Nothing came out the boosters. Now ... the Carb is off the car sitting on a coffee can with a paper towel between the can and carb ... of course .. no leaks ..... I'm going to set it back on the car with a paper towel spread under the carb and run the fuel pump and see what happens.

I'm assuming it is a factory non-drilled metering block then, and doesn't use screw in PV plugs.A defective metering block gasket could still allow fuel to leak through the main body to the baseplate.Pull it apart and thoroughly check or replace the gaskets, and if that doesn't fix it,I'll be as perplexed as you. OK I found how the fuel gets into the engine. On this carb there is a hole approx. .125" in each " power valve well " in the main body that goes into the linkage area. At the bottom of each venturi there is a notch into this area.
Now just need to figure out how its getting past the PV plug. A crack in each metering block maybe ?? opens up when the carb gets warm.
Everything holds fuel when cold.

I don't remember if your carb uses the std gaskets. I know the 6464 doesn't if it doesn't then find the correct gaskets. How does the thing run at WOT? your jetting seems awfully lean with no power valves. Actually your gas usage is not far off those carbs do not like to run at low speed.

Mike .. It runs great at WOT !! No problems at all .. I talked to a guy with a N2O Door car that runs 6.90's @ 200 +, he runs 2 of these carbs and at this time is having twice the fun I am. Only difference is he can see fuel seeping out the intermediate circuit tubes ( intermediate ciruits are blocked useing 4150 MB gaskets on his and my carb.) after he shuts the engine off.
I cant see what purpose these 2 holes in the PV wells serve. So I plugged them with epoxy. That will prevent it from getting intot the engine, but wont stop it getting past the PV plug.
I have another Carb lined up so I really dont care what happens to this one. I just want to see if I can get it to run.
Carb has 92's stock w/o power valves
