What are some aluminum BBC heads that are great for the price and can really be worked good with some home porting? Just wondering because I used to be more into SBC heads, and now that I've been eyeing BBC more I see a lot of people seem to want to use GM cast iron or maybe AFRs, but AFRs are out of any price range I'll have any time soon...what are some good in-between names? Thanks.

Canfields on ebay ought to be not to hard on your budget. Be aware they have raised exhaust ports. Do a search on the subject.

I opted to spend the money And get the Dart Pro1 heads, out of the box the heads I believe are the best. I bought mine complete for ~$1800 from Summit racing, and then had my machinist take them apart to check seat pressure and valve guide clearance. May be a little out of your price range though.
