I have a friend who wants to give me some Double Hump Heads. I know I need some better heads and gear for my combo and had been looking at the AFR 180 heads. They are a little pricey at the present time but a goal. If I were to accept the Double Hump Heads would I see any real improvement over the heads I currently have?

I forgot to mention that the Double Hump Heads are 74cc.

What kind of heads are they? What are the casting numbers?

that depends on what heads you have now, what is the casting number on them? what size valves are in your current heads?
not all double hump/camel hump heads have the 2.02/1.60 valves, they came with 1.94/1.50s too.
the heads you have now may very well have the same size valves the camel humps have. so if thats the case the only thing a camel hump would do is possibly bump your compression ratio.

My current valves are 1.94/1.5.

Have those heads had combustion chamber work?
The reason I ask is that if they have not had any work done to them in the combustion area they are not Double humpers.Double humpers also known as Fueler heads didn't come with that large of a combustion chamber.
Also if you have open chamber heads with 72-76 cc combustion chambers with 194/150 valves and swap to a Double humper with the same valve size you will gain compression. This is good for performance. What will make an even bigger gain is that the combustion chambers are way,way better than an open chamber 882 or 441 head. They are a ton more efficient, lots of torque to be gained.

I was just looking at your sig.
You do know that XE284 cam is too big for your compression (even with closed chambers) and 3.73 gear right?
Remember torque is the name of the game considering the weight and small cubes.

Yeah, I suggested to the guy who built the engine to go with the XE268 Cam but he was stuck on the XE284. How much compression do you think I am currently running? How much compression would I possibly have if I use the 64cc Double Hump Heads.

I am not the one to ask about that.
To many variables:
CC relief in pistons
Decked block or not
Head Gasket thickness
