I am in the process striping down my parts car (64 4 door sedan) and would like to remove the dash to install in my 2 door. Is this possible, it looks like it is welded in. I found alot of info on 70's models, but not much on 64, 65. Any help would be great.
Thanks, Bob

the whole dash ? it's welded to the body
The dash on my 66 unbolted very easily. I would think 64 would be similar.
I hope I remember where I put all the parts back in March....The drivers side of the trim strip even got flooded in Gustav...

If you are talkinga bout the steel part... it is welded to the body. If the dash bezel is what you are referring too (which im sure you are not) it is held in by a hand full of pan head screws.

That is what I was afraid of, the center vent in the dash of the 2 door is bent pretty bad. Maybe a dash pad.
Thanks

Not only is it welded to the body-----
it is also that portion of metal between the windshield and cowl

It can be done. I replaced a dash (entire steel dash) on the first 64 chevelle I owned. Its a lot of work though! The car I was working on must have had a terrible leak around the windshield. The entire left hand side corner and bottom was all rusted out of the car. I found a guy with a donor car. He cut out half of the firewall, and everything when I bought the dash from him. Its been about four years since i did it. Remove everything from the dash (obviously). Once you find where the spot welds are, I used a bit and drilled them out. At each lower corner where the pillar comes down it was brazed together. I had to cut that apart, then there was a brace from the firewall up to the dash underneath that I cut off. When I put the other dash back in, it fit fine. Spot welded the holes back in, sanded down. Then brazed in the corners and sanded them down as well. Welded/sanded the brace underneath the dash back in as well. Took a while, but I was low on money and had a car to work on and it turned out looking really well! Hope this helps!
