Found an old case of Valvoline 20 wt oil. It's the old cardboard wrapped cans and the case is still in plastic. Anyone have an idea what it might be worth?

i inherited several cases of old oil like you have. I used it for oil changes and saved a few empty cans. I think the metal ones are worth keeping.

'bout $3 a can...full.

'bout $.03 a can empty. In 10 years , just the opposite!:D

Actually no idea, just thought I'd throw that out to see if someone really knows.

At shows at times I've seen people lay out a large area of what older things that might be in a trunk. Gas&Oil cans,Flares, tire inflators, the jack. Might be something if you know someone that does the swapmeet sells.

Not sure of the value of an old case but with oil closing down to $109 a barrel today, I'd be selling it quickly!! ;)

Yeah I agree. I'll probably hang on to it and bet some young mechanics 30 years from now that they can't open them!!! Probably make alot of cash on that bet. LOL. Seriously I'll keep them , who knows what they'll be worth when my son is 50 years old.

I have a few old cans of Atlantic oil. They are the metal cans. A few are starting to rust on the outside, and leaking oil. They were fine until I decided to try to clean them up

i collect these types of cans, and the common price for a full cardboard can of oil goes from $6-$15 per can at swap meets. i paid $12 FOR A CAN OF wolfs head oil. i even have a quart full can of antifreeze.

I have a cardboard 1 litre can of Gulf oil and one quart from Wakefield Mershol. The Mershol was packaged by Castrol and I paid $3 for it. At least the old oil should have enough zinc in it.
