Sorry, no clips- But I do have some advice- In my experience- the x-pipe did not change the sound much at idle- It was under load where "THE SOUND" was really noticeable. Try to find a clip with more than just reving an engine in a driveway- you won't hear "THE X-pipe" Sound until its under a good load- Then it will sing.

There is a user here with a red 72 GTO and he has a movie clip of his car 502 w/ 3" X-pipe racing on track, and you can definitely hear it.... I think his name is GOTAGO or something like that... Do a search.

I had a X-pipe on my Stock 350 Until a few months ago. I was not happy with the sound- WAY too Mellow for me. Don't get me wrong, It was definitely Cool and different, but too mellow. I went back to straight pipes with the same mufflers and it sounds much better to me more agressive... But my engine is pretty much bone stock- with a more radical motor, or louder mufflers maybe the X would have sounded better.

Definitely a DIFFERENT Sound than the typical V8.

I hav a 3.5 in and 3.0 out Dr Gas X pipe on my Trans Am with 482 BBC with .722 roller cam. it is AWESOME sounding at idle and INCREDIBLE when under a hard pull. it has DynoMax Ultra Flows and 3.0 inch mandrel bent tails out the back and aimed down. don't try to drive this car around town unnoticed :D

I'm running 2" primary 3.5" collector headers into a 3" Heddman x-treme x-pipe to 3" 40 series delta-flows then to 3" tailpipes

heres a 975kb crappy video clip (just did it for the sound) of my car...I leveled it off for a few seconds at 2500rpm (highway cruise speed) and it hits 6000rpm for the max

engine is a 489 BBC with 10.3:1 compression and a decent size hydraulic roller btw

small .mpg of my car (http://www.fidnet.com/~harleyms/redrat.mpg)

Peace
Matt

my friends all think it makes the car sound like it's turning about 3k more than it actually is...some like it some don't
I'm planning on trying to fit some quieter mufflers on it next year ...40 series flows suck when you're trying to crawl through your neighborhood at 10pm

Components like mufflers, motor combination, pipe path and pipe size all contribute to the sound you hear. The only real way to appreciate the sound difference is by adding an X to a system which sound you are already familiar with. Also, I really feel the biggest sound change is recognized when inside the car. Most sound clips are from the outside.

This might give you an idea of an X at WOT.
Here's a clip of my car on the dyno last week.
1-5/8" primaries, Dr Gas X (3" in 2.5" out).
Normally i go through the Spintech muffs, but in the clip i had the cutouts open (they are after the X but before the mufflers.)
Enjoy (http://www.chevelles.com/video/Matt_Leuck_dyno4.AVI)

Go to classicalpontiac.com and do a search in their archives for exaust. Jim and Tom Hand are about as close to exhaust experts as you can find. A couple of years ago they put together a CD of different exhaust sounds comparing different mufflers. I have the CD around here.
