Anyone use fine steel wool on chrome bumpers? Will it get the little squiggle lines out? An old timer told me about it but thought I would ask first.

I have seen a nice OEM bumper ruined this way...Steel wool is not metal polish.

No problems using common sense, low pressure...use 000
Also works on Aluminum wheels that are dull with your favorite polish.
Obviously experiment before going to your precious pieces....just like testing carpet cleaner before starting dead center in the living room....

works good if it's the pre soaped brillo pads. Used these on chrome rims quite a few times.

Steel is rated at 3.5-4.5 on Mohs hardness scale, hard chrome is rated at 8. You can use any grade of steel wool you like without fear of scratching. I'd be a bit cautious about the Brillo pads though, who knows what they use for abrasive in that stuff.

dont use Brillo, too abrasive. SOS pads are the way to go
