I have a 1971 SS454 car with a q-jet on it that appears original at least according to the part #. However, there is no date stamped on it where the date would be. Instead it reads c1 FA. Anybody have any ideas on what that code means???

Thanks

c1 could mean March 1 but you normally see casting id's/dates that look more like 7041201-0731 which would be in this example case 73rd day of 71.

My 72 has a date code of E2, May of 72. It's the original, and all the other components are dated in mid-May as well, all within 14 days.

There are actually two makers for these Q-jets Rochester and Carter. One is Julian dated and the other is alphanumerical dated, month and year.

The Rochester is Julian dated

Really??? I'll have to look at mine and see, cause the carter built ones usually say Quadrajet by Carter on them...
