Anybody know the correct head casting numbers??

Ok check my heads 3964290 = heads from an L-78 Now what the hell enging do I have? Do I even have an L-34. Could this explain why I have a double pumper holly insted of a quad? How can I reseach this more?

I checked the heads. 3964290 = L-78 I thought I had a L-34 whats the differance? Is this why I have a Holly Double pumper instead of a q-Jet? I already have the correct intake and a q-jet awaiting install. Now what? did I waste my money??? How can I research this further?

1970 was a long time ago and parts do get changed. You need more numbers to tell what your engine was from the factory. There is a casting number on the top of the block behind the driver's side head. There is also a stamped number on a pad at the front of the passenger side head just behind the alternator. With those numbers we can get you closer to what you have.

3964290 isn't the L-78 head.
3964290 = 396/402/427/454 ,69-70 ,2.06/1.77 ,100cc Oval port
3964291 is.
3964291 = 396/402/427/454 ,69-70 ,2.19/1.88 ,108cc L-78/L-71/L-72/LS-6 Rectangular port 325cc intake

Ok, so the heads are correct for a 396 I will check the eng cast tomorrow.

CTX = 70 ,402 ,Chevelle ,350hp ,L-34 ,4-Spd ,4-Brl
