: Fuel shut off valve?

Just wondering if anyone with a fuel cell is running a shut off valve before their fuel filter w/electric pump? I thought it might be kind of handy when its time to change the fuel filter, or if I ever have to take the cell out of the trunk for any reason. Does anyone make them with AN fittings, or would I have to get some more AN to NPT adapters?

If anyone else has any tips for changing the filter w/o having gas leak all over (besides draining the tank), let me know!

My streetrod has the exact setup you're talking about. Out of tank to fuel shut off to filter to pump to front to regulator to carb. You can shut off the tank flow and change the filter without taking a gas shower. All AN fittings, all the way. Fittings are AN to NPT in most places.

Did you buy your streetrod with that setup already installed, or did you do it yourself? If so, where did you get the valve?

I have an electric pump too, very nice and easy to refill the lines and carb with gas after they are empty. I have a piece of braided stainless hose with AN fitting to connect to the regular holley dual feed inlet. All I do is disconnect it there, and put a the blow gun tip from the air compressor on there, and blow a little air back into the lines till I hear it blowing bubbles in the tank. Just open the gas cap, and don't use super high pressure or anything. After I do that, I can change filters (in the frame rail) or whatever I want without leaking all over smile.gif

Are you using a stock tank though? With a fuel cell the wieght of any fuel in the cell will fill the lines back up I think....at least the ones in the rear which is what I would need to disconnect.

I did find a valve from Earls, any other ideas are welcome!

Yeah, I do have a stock tank. I didn't even think about the difference from that to a fuel cell. hehe, whoops smile.gif

Well I went ahead and ordered one by Earls, so it should work out ok. It has NPT on one end and AN fitting on the other. At least I won't be swimming in gas when I decide to change the filter.

if you had a goodyear hose company around where you live you could get the vlv and fittings needed for about half the price, actually less.
