Thanks to Chris (bubba68SS) and his write up on the headliner install, it was easier than I thought it was going to be. I still have a few wrinkles in the rear area above the sail panels, but that isn't anything to do with the write up. My biggest issue was that on the 64 (and probably 65 at least) there are no plastic clips holding the listing wires up. There are metal spiky things that have to get poked through the sleeve for the middle wire to hang from and wide metal tabs in the center of the car that the rest of the wires go into. I didn't get the headliner pulled tight across the center before I poked the spikes through the sleeve and hung the center wore, so that made it a little tough to get the center pulled tight. The sail panel area has tack strips that the old headliner was stapled to, to puill it tight instead of the glue bar on the later cars. I used a staple gun to lock that in place, but the staples are longer than the tack strip is thick, so it didn't work very well. It's all good though. When I figure out a better way I will fix it. Until then, here are a couple pics. Amazingly, it looks just like a new headliner :D Makes me think: People are getting 500 bucks to do this? wow.

Oh, I did it with the rest of the interior in the car, and it wasn't too bad. Gave me a place to sit while I stretched. :)

Are you talking about the material on the visors, or do you have new visors and can't find the holes in the roof of the car?

I figured I would take my visors and the extra material to an upholstery shop to get them done. I don't have a sewing machine that can go through all those layers.

My Visors are in good shape themselves, what i was trying to ask is the holes\hardware to attach the visors is covered up by the new headliner.
How did you get your on, or did you make holes for the hardware before hand?

thx

koolkeith,
I just installed my headliner a month ago.

Here is a shot of my 66 passenger side roof where the sun visor mounts. I looked in the Ground Up catalog and they sell a single mount kit for all 64-72 chevelles, so I am assuming your mounts are the same as mine and the holes in the roof are the same also.

I would recommend pressing the headliner with your fingers to locate the large hole then cut an X slightly smaller than the hole with an exacto knife or razor blade for the mount spring to fit. Then reach in with your finger to locate the 3 screw holes and use an ice pick to poke holes in the headliner for them. It is easiest if you screw on the mount without the sun visor attached. Hope this helps. Wayne

My sunvisors were on the car before I did the headliner, so when I removed them, I put the screws back in the holes before I put the headliner in. Afterwards, I felt around til I felt the large hole that the spring goes up into, and I knew they had to be right around there someplace.

What Wayne says is probably your best option You will need to cut the X anyways to let the spring up in the hole if your car has the spring thingie on the visor. Just make the X as small as possible to begin with.
