I will be running a AFR headed 505, or 540, but I might throw one of the iron headed 505's in there for testing. Hey congrads on those 60' times looks knarley. I hope I can get the 66 to leave like that. Might be a chore on a 9'' tire with that long wheel base.

Looks like you need some more air in the tires. Start @ 14psi and work from there. Probally best ET with 16psi or so. My photo above with some what stock suspension hooks good with 16psi

More of our rides...Not sure if ya'll are into buggies but the last pic is of a buggy we had gotten that had a 2.3 turbo motor out of a svo mustang or thunderbird on it...matted with a 4 speed out of a vw bus. Man that thing was fast! dyno sheets showed it made 225 at the flywheel before the motor was installed and you can imagine how light it was. It would pick the tires up in 4th gear when it started making boost!

I have to ask. Are these the same car? OR did you try to put one over on us.

First, you have the obvious;
Bug catcher.
Roll bar.

Then there's;
Different license plates.
Different windshield tint strip.
Different grille (blackout).
Passenger side mirror.

Inquiring minds gotta know.

It is the same car! Bolt in roll cage that rattled so bad I wanted to turn into on coming traffic. The scoop is mounted to an old-school tunnel ram and the rear tires only had 3.5" of backspace and the sidewall of the tires would rub and get cuts on them from the wheel lips. It also had full stainless steel door panels and dash (still has the dash) and plastic summit race seats. The black paint was worn almost totally off the grill and could only be seen up close, as it is I still need to paint the corner pieces correctly.

Rowdy, here in Wa. we have to replace our plates every 7 years by law.
This is from the Washington Dept of Lic. website.

You must replace your plates if they are:

At least 7 years old. By law, you must replace your license plates every 7 years when you renew your vehicle registration. The reflective coating on the plates only has a 5-year guarantee. This coating helps law enforcement officers easily identify vehicles in poor weather conditions. Proper care of plates won’t prevent this coating from breaking down over time.

I wanted to drive the car more often and lived in a busy city environment at the time. I first bought a big disc bake kit which required the bigger wheels, then decided I didn't like the interior and replaced it with stock repops from pui. I took out the bolt in cage and got rid of it and found a pair of '70 bucket seats that I recovered in '66 covers. I found the tunnel ram a major pain to keep in tune and wanted to put the stock hood back on, I just sold the hood and tunnel ram set-up last year. I bought it from a good friend and it came with the factory 396 but it had a rod sticking out the side of it:( I sold everything good from the long block and have recently started a 496 project for it with a TKO 600 5 speed. I bought a "classic vehicle" licence plate for it and now I don't have to ever buy tabs again. It was a one time 60$ charge and came with the plate, I also am not required to run a front plate. In WA state, I could also track down an original plate or coustom plate and register it to my car as a classic, I just have never found one I like. I wonder if "2Rowdy" is taken here in WA?:DBoth the car and I have been around and through a lot together:D

The Chevelle has been driven less than 200 miles since putting the BB in it. I did a cam swap a while back, but haven't driven it since. The carb has been on the 62 since I broke the new cam in. My free time and $$$ have all been spent on the 62 recently. Raced the 62 at Bakersfield the weekends of 10/19 and 10/25... 125 miles each way... BTW, still running the original #s matching block and heads...

That's an odd belt configuration. First of all, didn't '69 have a long water pump with the alternator mounted in front of the passenger side head?

Does the inside belt (1st) only turn the w/p? I kinda like that idea, won't cook the motor if the alternator belt gets tossed, which is common when it's mounted beyond the valve cover like pre '68 big blocks.

That stinger hood could spoil things.
Gettin into the 10's could seriously challenge the wonderfull persona your car now has in spades. You may have to change too many things.....bar.....shifter...hood.....accompanied by a number of streetability robbing components.
Car is already very fast.

You are correct. I am going to put the all the a/c stuff back on and wanted to keep it on the pass side like a 68 has. Sooo, I took the route of 68 steering and pully stuff as well as I already had that punp etc...
So far so good. I have twisted up several times doing burn outs etc and no problems , Yet ?

That's an odd belt configuration. First of all, didn't '69 have a long water pump with the alternator mounted in front of the passenger side head?

Does the inside belt (1st) only turn the w/p? I kinda like that idea, won't cook the motor if the alternator belt gets tossed, which is common when it's mounted beyond the valve cover like pre '68 big blocks.

I have the same valve covers on my 496. Ever had a problem with them leaking around the breather? Also where did you get the power brake booster? My stock one is to wide to get the driver side valve cover off.

Jody, Have you ever built anything that wasnt purely stunning? Everytime I look at the car Im more and more impressed. Other than the color, wheels, coating of the headers and charge piping what else rounded out the "winter revision"?

thanks, that's most of it. Also went flat clear on all the carbon fiber, black anodized the paddle shifter, swapped to a black anodized Vintage Air front runner.
