: Edelbrock 2162 CAM - anybody have one and like it>?
Skier_Bob Apr 14th, 04, 9:45 AM Is anybody running a Edelbrock 2162 CAM (292 intake and 302 duration) and if so are you satisfied with the performance? I am looking for nice sound and improved off the line performance w/out vacuum problems. 71 SS Chevelle 454 has headers, MSD HEI, edelbrock performer manifold and edelbrock 750 carb. THANKS!
427L88 Apr 14th, 04, 11:51 AM That cam is set on a W-I-D-E 114 lsa. You certainly won't have any vaccum problems. You would, however, gain a bit bunch of mid range pull by opting for a different grind on a 110 lsa. And still wouldn't have vacuum problems.
Bob, look at the 280/288 cam that many here including mr. 4 speed run. Actually , that grind is available as an inexpensive Elgin cam and lifter set as well. Way, way better choice for you IMHO.
I can tell you, having driven Chris's car, its very mellow idling and such, Yet when you hit the loud pedal, you KNOW there's something non-stock under the hood. All at 17" of vacuum at idle. ( with the orignal 112 lsa of the Ultradyne cam - the Elgin version sports a 110 lsa - you still shouldn't have any problems with brakes, but it'll idle a bit lumpier than Chris's). Mint cam. Your best choice I think.
