Did a search but no luck...
Im ready to buy a dash harness for my 71 Malibu. I got a set of white face SS gauges eBay and i was told they were for a 70. Are the connections for this the same from 70 to 71? im pretty sure it is but want to make sure before i blow $500 on a new harness. Im asking because M&H has two part numbers for the the different years. what would be different about them? any help would be appreciated

if your gauge faces are white i would assume they are 71 or 72 gauges as 70 gauges were light green in color. when i changed mine out i bought a new engine forward harness and i had to run a new wire for my tach. other than that the only change i made was switching 2 wires on the amp meter as it was reading backwards. Good luck with your project...

well the numbers are black and the faces are white.. there after market. Really i guess the question shoulda been, Are the round gauges interchangeable between 70-72 cars. I just found my own answer tho. ground up shows the same circuit board for all 3 years so i know it will plug into a 71 wire harness. Thanks for the help tho!

The cluster connections are the same for all three years. Any 70, 71 or 72 gauge cluster will fit and function correctly in your 71. If the cluster has white/black overlays in place you can tell if it's 70 or 71/27 by the color of the plastic housing. 70 factory plastic housings are either green or white with green paint on the inside. 71 and 72 factory plastic housings are ltblue.
Bottom line if it's a 70 cluster it will work just fine with a new 71 repro harness.
