You all made is sound easy, I should know better :). I finally got the tail housing off my th350 so I could remove the driven gear. Just a little clip holds it down. Hell, to me the damn thing acts like it's press fitted. Can anyone tell me the proper technique to remove this? I'm afraid I'm going to break the clip, don't have another.

Also, for my setup they sold me a 7 tooth driven gear, 20 tooth speedo gear. I have a 3.73 setup with 26 in tires. To me the gear I'm trying to take off looks the same as they one they sold me. The old one is kind of orange the new purple, but they look like they have identical number of teeth. My original speedo gear had 21 teeth. Now to me replacing a 21 tooth with a 20 tooth isn't going to do diddly if the driven gears have identical teeth patterns.

Well, the invoice says 7 teeth. Maybe it's not purple, but it's close to that. Anyway, how do I remove the old one?

just count them to be sure. Color is not a 100 % guarantee

While pushing clip reatainer in, use a 3/4 wrench and lightly tap both sides evenly untill she starts to move. Then once you get her started you can let go of the clip and work it from side to side. There is some pressure resistance. Don't worry about damaging it if you have another one to replace it.

Use a large wrench, I think I use a 1-1/4" and set it on the gear on both sides of the output shaft to push the gear off.

I just removed my metal reductor gear from a 700R4 and reinstalled one of the plastic drive gears just the other day. For some reason my reductor metal gear was a BEAR to get off. I heated and banged and banged. When I went to put the drive gear on I just put a little trans fluid on it to help it slide and used the wrench like they said. I actually had to hit it with a little force. It wasn't light tapping like some say on here. I didn't have to get one off like you are trying to do. If you break that clip they are like 1.50, but I'm confident you can do it without hurting it. I do believe 1 1/4 wrench was the magical size to fit over the shaft and give it some decent hits.

The "driven gear" is the one that the cable fits into, the gear on the tail shaft is the "drive gear"
