: A Rush
1BLACKHARLEY Aug 28th, 08, 3:09 PM i got my gt wheels on my 63 fairlane, they've garnered a lot of attention. i even had a lady flash me. anyway i got the car home, washed her up, and asked the wife if she wanted to go for a putt. ran around town for a bit, then went to get dinner.
there is a very nice burgandy 64 elky that runs around town, and we both ended up at the same mall. now i know most think i should be hanged, shot and tortured, but when i was a kid, i stole cars. never wrecked them, but would definately joy ride, this was until i was caught one night by a guy who owned a repo company, and gave me a job. it's been over 25 years since i stole a car.
after the wife and i ate, we came out to the lot, to find the 64 parked a row over from us, we'd been there for several hours and he'd left his lights on. i didn't think much of it, but the wife said i should use my "gift" to help the guy out, suddenly the rush hit and it hit hard, i was in the car in seconds and killed the lights. now i had no intention of leaving with this ride, but man, i forgot what it felt like all those years ago and just the thought that i was just seconds from driving it. man oh man. anyway, i killed the lights, locked the ride back up, and i bet he never knew i was even there.......

that's part of the rush....what if the guy sees me???? what if security shows up???? how the heck do i explain the big brother of the year, three years running is sitting behind the wheel of a car that doesn't belong to him????? hmmmm, this sure is a nice elky, wonder how she runs??? oh wait, it's not mine, i gotta get out of this thing....
the reason i quite the repo business, was i was being shot at, on a pretty regular basis. now that is beyond a rush, that's pucker time.....

White Hat hackers often do this. I know people that can play a computer keyboard like it was a piano. They will often get into a system, take a look around, and leave. There will be no trace that they were ever even there. Sometimes they will even fix the security hole that they used to get into the system on the way out the door :)

That's one thing I never understood. A guy or gal has a car, they fail to make the payments and then get surprised and/or ticked off when someone comes to take it away from them. Did you think the bank would just let you keep it as a gift? If they were any kind of a stand up human being they would have turned it in themselves instead having to be hunted down. It certainly wasn't your fault they were unable or unwilling to make the payments.
Anyway, back on topic: glad you got back out of that EC without any trouble! It'd be a bad deal if you got busted while trying to do a favor for someone. It's highly unlikely anyone but your wife would believe you! At the very least it would be hard to explain yourself.
Beaux Aug 28th, 08, 4:46 PM I think I would of used my special powers of telling a mall employee to put this out over the intercom. :D
Sometimes I run into peoples houses and vacuum and defrost their freezers while they are at work. So far i've only been maced twice and hit with a bat once but MAN DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL ALIVE!!! hard as hell to run full speed toting a kirby after being maced but i'll never be stopped.
BTW - Check to see if maybe your wife recently opened some kind of life insurance policy. Next time its going to be "So, babe....seems that the gun store left their lights on and I can see the guy is going to lunch. Use your special powers" ;):D

repoing cars was actually heart breaking, you'd get soe girl who's boyfriend talked her into something she couldn't afford. hospital bills got in the way, etc. and you realy don't know how important a car is, till you don't have one. then you'd get the scammers, people who'd pay to to leave the car, or the guy who always made sure several cars were parked in front so you couldn't get to it. then you'd have the guy you had to fight, or worse fight all his buddies. sometimes you felt badly taking a car someone really needed, or felt great when you got a scammers car. get bite by dogs, fire fights, the whole gammet, repo guys earn thier $$$.
about the elky thing, what it really came down to, would have been probably me and my wife being tossed in jail, lets face it, i'm driving a 63 fairlane, inside a 64 elky i don't own, the head lines would have been, theft ring arrested in simi valley, man tazed while resisting arrest......i would be talking with a stutter...
LeoP Aug 28th, 08, 4:52 PM Bill, It wasn't my car or anybody's I know, I'll just say thanks for the owner. I turn off light left on if the car is open, I knocked on a neighbors door to let them know awhile back.

i guess i need to check into this, the wife has been looking into property in other states, and there is a new shovel in the shed.....and some guy who claims to be my ferrier keeps coming by, i don't remember buying any horses recently......
Rich-L79 Aug 28th, 08, 5:05 PM Yeah, losing your car is sometimes a sad situation, sorry if I came across as a little heartless, but cripes, shooting at someone is a bit much. Hopefully next time they will buy a car they can afford in the first place. I can't imagine it does much for their credit and ability to get a loan next time. Problem is that too many folks think they deserve a new shiny expensive car from the git-go. I've always thought you had to earn those things over time and driving junkers at times is part of the "paying your dues" to get to the place where you can have a nicer car.
Rich-L79 Aug 28th, 08, 5:08 PM Bill, if she sends you out for milk to that grocery store at the bottom of a steep hill, make sure to either take her car or check your brake lines before leaving! ;)
Cameano Aug 28th, 08, 5:48 PM A few years ago, I noticed that an elderly neighbor had left his lights on in his van parked outside his house. Trying to be a good neighbor, I walked up to his house and knocked on the door. The screen door wasn't latched, and his border collie charged it, knocking it open, and tried to get out to bite me. I slammed the door shut, and the latch caught, but unfortunately, the dog's hind leg was sticking out. Now the dog is yelping, and as I tried to pull the door open again, the owner yanked it back shut on the dog's leg again. He finally figured it out and let the dog's leg out of the door. I looked at him and said "I just wanted to let you know your lights are on in your van." He acknowledged, and I turned and left. Kinda awkward, to say the least. :o
