Has anybody ever used the L88 cam or know how good it would work in a 454? thanx

I haven't, but I still figure it needs to be in a 12 to 1 CR. 454 too!

well i was thinking of running 10.5 or 11 Comp.

I used the second phase L88 in a 375hp 396 Chevelle back in the early 70's, you know high compression and good gas days. It idled very rough, lots of mid to high power. It did loose some off idle power but it was not bad with 4:56 gears. Hope this helps. Edd

A buddy and I both had Cranes blueprinted version back in the late 80's. Mine was in a 11 to 1, square port 454. His was in a 11to 1 427. The cars were our daily drivers for about 3 years. Those cams sounded great. I think the cams cost a wopping $69.00 then. They ran good to. The did not seem that hard on valve train. I drove my car alot one the highway. I had a 4 speed most of the time with 4.33's. It seems like at 3200 I would do around 62mph. They are better grinds I would pick today.
