DUKE 69 Aug 29th, 08, 7:47 AM If anything is being sent, it better hurry because I'll be in Stratford before I get it. See you guys on Fri.
northernforce Aug 29th, 08, 10:10 AM Steve-we had a show meeting last night -and putting you to work parking cars-you cancelled checks should be confirmation enough-if we had more volunteers it would make it easier!
northernforce Aug 29th, 08, 10:18 AM Ron/Duke I can confirm your registration-I have spent about 8 hours this week getting all the stuff(bbq-tickets-maps-comment sheets- Gm Performance Booketc etc) put together for the pre -registered cars-you will be in/out of the registration tent in 30 seconds-unless you stop and stare at all the door prizes and raffle prizes-Duke Mike King sayed you are going to buy me a beer(or 4) thanks-I love our Canadaian beer but also like MGD in the cans from your state-ha-ha-look foward to seeing everyone-keep on cruising-Dave.
427L88 Aug 30th, 08, 9:13 AM Duke, you boys running up via Watertown, or coming thru Buffalo? When?
Steve, can you bring the paint code from your mom's Mopar? Wasn't it black with a purple hue, or was it deep purple?
Its not for the Chevelle, its for a bass.
DUKE 69 Sep 1st, 08, 9:21 PM Gene,
Been gone for a couple of days....don't know for sure in regards to the route but I'm assuming we are coming Buffalo way and either going to cross at the Falls or perhaps Lewiston. Have put a "call" to Jeff Meehan to see what's what but haven't heard back. I'm guessing it will take about 4 hrs. from my house to Stratford (~ 2 hrs. to Buff.) Will be in touch later this wk. Glad to see you are going to make it....we need a strong contingent fr. this area!
Duke
upstate dave Sep 1st, 08, 11:09 PM Duke - Jeff and I should be leaving Syracuse around 9AM, we could stop at the rest area just before exit 45 (Victor) around 10AM, if you want to hook up. I will PM you my cell phone #.
Dave

Bow_Tied Sep 2nd, 08, 2:22 AM Rod and myself are leaving here around 10.
Is that to early for you guys?
I chatted with Rod about that this afternoon... not sure, we are on Kaitlyn's schedule, so it may be more like noon before we get mobile.
I couldn't keep up to your fancy-pants overdrive anyway! :D
DUKE 69 Sep 2nd, 08, 7:50 AM Dave,
Sounds good....hope this weather system finds some place else to go..I've had enough driving in the rain for one summer! Will wait to hear from you.
Duke
427L88 Sep 2nd, 08, 7:58 AM I'll be at the office Firday until I leave. Crossing at the Peace Bridge.
427L88 Sep 4th, 08, 3:17 PM Hmm, didnt like the weather radar I saw last night. Cant drive Old Red in the rain right now due to some nasty leaks. No time to fix.
DUKE 69 Sep 4th, 08, 6:10 PM Gene,
It's looking better and better....at least according to our local weather guys....now more like a chance of showers on Sat. The storm is moving more easterly so maybe in Stratford that means no rain. Looks like the caravan is leavinf Syr. around 9 AM. Prob. be in Buff. around 11 or so. Think we are crossing @ the Falls but not sure. Maybe we can catch up along the way.
Duke

427L88 Sep 5th, 08, 8:41 AM I've never been "anal" about running Old Red thru the rain, but he took on so much water en route from the Maryland show, it took a week to dry it out. Cowl leaks in buckets now for some reason.
Anyway, if I dont bring my car, the sun will shine for y'all according to the "umbrella" theory.
Chris Stanwyck Sep 5th, 08, 8:56 AM Look forward to seeing ya'all there.
Some rain forecast for tonight....but that's it....balance of the weekend looks perfect.
427L88 Sep 5th, 08, 10:30 AM OK, I'm screwing woth the "umbrealla theory. Old Red is packed!
steve_sutherland Sep 5th, 08, 12:27 PM awesome, its alittle late to tell you know but i'm leaving in about 10 minutes
Thomas_Mac Sep 5th, 08, 5:56 PM rain or shine my 69 will be thier tommorw:thumbsup: came home from school in london just to get the chevelle and head back out on the road to stratford for this.
northernforce Sep 5th, 08, 10:17 PM Excellent turnout today-Hotel gave us a free bbq-supper in a nice room with all the fixings(about 45 people) we were setting up at 8 am in the rain/wind-perfect weather tomorrow-make sure you say Hi-will be in the registration tent- nice documented LS5 ragtop -guy has had it for 21 years-guy drove a 67 chevelle over 1,000 miles(not kilometeres) to the show-all the way from Thunder Bay-unreal-look foward to tomorrow-keep on cruising-dave.
steve_sutherland Sep 6th, 08, 12:13 AM NO WAY! you will NOT believe this! it sucks
its steve sutherland with the 1970 el camino, after i came home tonight, almost back in town, i swerved to miss a dead skunk and there wa s aclunking sound and now the front right side of my car is dropping and sagging like crazy, it definitely doesnt feel fit to drive so I wont actually have it back out tomorrow for the show :(
i'll still be there tomorrow to help park cars and everything and enjoy the awesome rides.. just i'll be driving the awesome ford E250 work van

northernforce Sep 6th, 08, 8:57 PM What a day-NO Rain-even though 20 miles away and east got dumped on this morning-sunny and 75F 119 cars-awsome day-raised over $1,850 for the children's wish foundation-keep on cruising-dave.
northernforce Sep 6th, 08, 8:58 PM P.S 119 super nice cars-one guy drove his car over 1,000 miles(not kilometers) to the show!!keep on cruising-Dave.
Bow_Tied Sep 6th, 08, 10:08 PM Just got back. Great cars, weather, and fun. Cool cruise too!
Post when next year's dates are fixed!
jfkheat Sep 6th, 08, 10:29 PM Where are all the pictures? I know someone had a camera. WE WANT PICTURES. lol
James
northernforce Sep 7th, 08, 9:36 AM Final donation was bumped up to $2,000 to the chidren's wish--Shaun has loads of pictures-he didn't look welll yesterday morning-Gene had a shooter bar going friday night in the tent-probably the same scenerio this morning-thanks to all who came-keep on cruising-Dave.
steve_sutherland Sep 7th, 08, 10:34 AM the show was awesome i had a sweet time, every car there was amazing, and the cruise was really sweet, especially since I got a ride there with duke and back with Gene, all i can say is theirs are MUCH nicer than my el camino ha ha
Chris Stanwyck Sep 7th, 08, 10:38 AM It was a great day, with great company. The high quality level of the cars was evident.
Numerous 64 & 65's in mint shape.....rare sight.
Thanx to all those behind the scenes as I very much look forward to next year.
The pig roast & cruise were outstanding.
427L88 Sep 7th, 08, 11:33 AM The folks behind me at US Customs must have thought I was getting the 3rd degree when, in reality, the customs officer and I were having a " car show" conversation. He had me pop the trunk to show me where his 66 rotted out. I must have been in the lane for more than ten minutes. I asked him if he'd prefer me to shut Old Red down due to nosie, and then the fun started! He starts with " Stratford!? there anre't any Chevelles in Canada!" I just kicked it back into relax mode and let him have some fun. With the Veteran plates and my online dossier, they usually let me fly through.
I think some of you Can Am'ers have had the same experience with the senior officer at the Peace Bridge. I thoroughly enjoyed it, as I did the show!
Steve, man kid, you're 17, and Duke and I are old farts. Patience young man, patience. Your turn will come. Now that you've had a low 12 second ride, you have to get into Chris' car next year and feel the real deal! Jsut about all of us started in the 14's/high 13's like your Elky. Dont sweat it. Get the body finished off. Have your mom and dad start looking for an old rotted out Suburban/ pickup/RV with the 454/turbo400 combo. Its often the cheapest way to get a big block with all the pulleys and brackets. You'll be at 13.0 with a mild rat. In a few years! And thank for the paint code from your mom's Challenger. ( Steve's mom is one freakin' cool chic! ). After we finish our studio work in a few weeks, I'm having my main 5 string bass done in that color! ( well maybe my backup 5'er first)
Tim, Dave, Mike, Randy and all the folks from our favorite "foreign" country did an outstanding job, so much so that we'll try and incorporate some of their ideas in the Grand Island show next year.
BIG THUMBSUP GENTLEMEN!
I'll try and upload my pics into my showroom later on.
steve_sutherland Sep 7th, 08, 12:26 PM ha ha thats awesome about the convo at the border,
now that I had that awesome 12 second ride in yourchevelle, definitely have some more motivation to find a 454, after the paint and body work in the spring though,
I got to find a way to talk Chris into taking me for a ride next year, that is one cool car for sure with that 540 in it,
thanks a lot everyone, i had an awesome time seeing you all again, and thanks for the rides Gene and Duke and thanks to everyone else for the offers
427L88 Sep 7th, 08, 1:50 PM Yeah., the only trouble with Chris's car is that, you can build something as quick as ( or quicker!) than the Old Red car in a few years. Chris' ride, on the other hand, is like taking a Playboy playmate to the senior prom. It might not ever get any better ! ;)
Thomas_Mac Sep 7th, 08, 2:21 PM My 6 cylinder car beside Chris`s mean machine sure was a interesting contrast, im definalty going to try and make it to the new york show next july:thumbsup:
steve_sutherland Sep 7th, 08, 3:33 PM Thats always true, in a few years I want my el camino to put down some of the same numbers that you are getting with your 67, and ha ha ya, there isnt much that can top haveing a playboy model at senior prom, so i know i wont even try to get anywhere near Chris's car,
Thomas_Mac, i dont think i saw you at the show but i saw the car, it looked great i look forward to seeing you in new york
53Chev Sep 7th, 08, 3:38 PM Unfortunately, I couldn't make it this year due to the fact that my car is at this very minute, on the hoist in my mechanics shop waiting for a replacement tranny.
Hope everyone had a good time. What was the numebrs like this year for entries? Last year I think it was around 130 and also did it rain a lot?
Don_Lightfoot Sep 7th, 08, 3:41 PM Just got back. We had some rain early Friday and it poured on the way home for me today. However, show day Saturday was beautifull.
I will have the pictures uploaded to the Club Website in the next day or so. Stay tuned.
Dave427 Sep 7th, 08, 4:36 PM I had a great time at the show. Should of wore a hat, the top of my head is sun burned. I haven't seen so many 64 Chevelles. I had 2 red 64 Chevelles between me. My daughters had a great time too. I threatened them if they didn't help me clean my car I wouldn't feed them. They did a fabulous job, so the feast we had at the show and the pig roast paid off. Again great quality Chevelles were there. Thanks again to the Can-Am Chevelles club and all the sponsors. The prizes and how it was organized was out standing.

DUKE 69 Sep 7th, 08, 5:42 PM Got home around 2:30...stopped for food (human and auto) after the border. Crossing only took about 10 mins. w. no hassles. I did hear a couple of "nice car" comments from the fellas on duty, though. Rained hard, all the way to the border and then drizzle until we got on the 90. Man, I hate driving in the rain!
Folks, I tell you what..we have an awesome group of people in this CanAm club and their dedication to duty shows! As your president, I couldn't be prouder but as just another Chevelle nut, I couldn't have been in a better place than Stratford this wkend. The cars, the people, and even the weather on Sat. couldn't have been better. The pig roast was awesome, too. Can't wait to see some pics.
Duke
64SS-283 Sep 7th, 08, 7:50 PM I'm sorry I didn't make it this year but things came up. Glad it was a great show and the weather was good. Did anyone take some pictures of the 64's that where there?? I'd really like to see pics of the cars. Did Don behave??:noway::noway:
Dave
BillsCamino Sep 7th, 08, 11:25 PM Man, I hate driving in the rain!
Drive...you should try sitting in it Duke!! Me and 72,000 of my closest friends at Rich Stadium this afternoon. :(
Final score was worth it all, though... :hurray:
Glad y'all had a good time.
427L88 Sep 8th, 08, 8:03 AM No Dave, he was the usual loose cannon! Guys, my pics were horrible, so I;m not posting them. THNX Don for sharing! ( see - he does have redeeming qualities).
upstate dave Sep 8th, 08, 9:50 AM I too drove thru the rain. It seems that every road trip this year involved a down pour. Got home around 3 PM. As Duke said, the border was no problem. A lot of real good folks driving real nice chevelles. The cruise to the Pig Roast was very nice country drive, good roads and plenty of scenery. Hopefully next year more of the same!
427L88 Sep 8th, 08, 9:58 AM Guess I lucked out by not havng the "guts" to drink Sat night and boogied home. Dry ride. Missing your wife has NICE side benefits. ;)
BLT4FN, the skyway was closed sat nigh, so they had you take that Lincoln Extension . Man, it was a fast ride. Uh, other than the 15 minute conversation at the border. ( and I was going to stop at a tittie bar in Ft Erie before I crossed, good thing the bar was gone! Pure Platinum, gone! Tragedy I tell ya! )
Donny, nice pics Sir. Thank you!

When I looked out in the morning I thought you had made a good choice.

Remember that way in the opposite direction for next year.
Also where we going to do are illegel drops now. :D
427L88 Sep 8th, 08, 11:37 AM Ah, this fella wouldn't have cared. :D Chevelle parts are excluded from all trade issues! He was a hoot, " They dont have Chevelles in Canada - just those Beaumonts, not Chevelles! " ;) Tongue-in-cheek of coruse, he wasn;t being serious. I told him the # of 64s and 65s was impressive!
I think some Can Amer's have mentioned him at the Peace Bridge crossing.
Forger Sep 8th, 08, 12:01 PM Where is Fort Erie:D
427L88 Sep 8th, 08, 1:03 PM Bills Camino, WELL WORTH THE WET, I'd say. GREAT GAME! And the Bears whopped arse yesterday as well!
Plus, you dont have to pull your rugs and let it all dry for a week in the sun, now do ya!?
Don_Lightfoot Sep 8th, 08, 1:20 PM Where is Fort Erie:D
Don't know if you are being sarcastic or not Dave, but hopefully this Mapquest link (http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Fort+Erie&state=ON) will work.
427L88 Sep 8th, 08, 1:38 PM But Pure Platinum and blonde Polish ballet duets are gone, so WHO CARES Don!?
:)
BLT4FN Sep 8th, 08, 1:50 PM see if this link works for some more pictures.

427L88 Sep 8th, 08, 3:03 PM Shaun, it looks like the grey scale of the camera is off. Actually my pics looked like ( no color satuation) and I have to figure out how to adjust grey scale. Where you using filters?
BLT4FN Sep 9th, 08, 1:12 AM Had a polariod filter on.
Still trying to figure out the new camera.
Bow_Tied Sep 9th, 08, 1:43 AM Good pics Don.
Thanks to all who made long treks to the show, especially a number of you who crossed the border. Not sure if it was the cars or the beer that brought you to Stratford, but glad to see you again anyway. :D
