: Just ordered my UDLunati 288/296F10
Stefan B Jan 4th, 04, 9:46 AM Hello Everyone !
Just wanted to tell you all , that helped me out to pick a cam for my new 468 in progress, that I have just placed the order at Summit for the UDLunati BB288/296 F10. :D :D
They charged me 162$ and said that I have to wait two weeks before shipping.
So that's ok with me smile.gif
Oh, I ordered the Crane springs # 99893-16 too. Now I have to deside what lifters to use with the cam and if it's a good idea to make the "comp cam slots" in the lifter bores to improve oiling on the camlobes.
Thank's for the helping hand guy's !

Bob West Jan 4th, 04, 9:51 AM Why not use the cam mfg. lifters? and springs? I've never slotted lifter bores, seems like it would cause oil pressure issues
Stefan B Jan 4th, 04, 10:02 AM Rapid Robert. What's the cam mfg. lifters? My english is'nt that god so please explain. And I also been told that slotted lifter bores demand a high volyme oilpump.

JRS70LS5 Jan 4th, 04, 10:17 AM The crane 99893-16 are the same springs I used to build mine I also went with the Lunati lifters part# lun-70992 graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Bob West Jan 4th, 04, 10:21 AM Lunati cam, springs and lifters...they are probably made by the same people anyway, just put a different name on them graemlins/thumbsup.gif
Stefan B Jan 4th, 04, 10:43 AM JRS70LS5. Yours combo was one of the combos I looked at before ordering parts. And I also read a post from UDHarold about spring pressures for the 288/296F10 and the Crane 99893-16 matched that nicely. I will look up the Lunati # LUN-70992 lifters.
Have you done anything to improve oiling for the cam lobes?
Stefan B
JRS70LS5 Jan 4th, 04, 11:01 AM I didn't slot the lifter bores and I have never seen it done,I don't even know of anyone who has done it but maybe someone else can give you there advise.I just made sure all my clearances where on the money and I have good oil pressure 70lbs cold 35 to 40lbs warm graemlins/waving.gif
Stefan B Jan 4th, 04, 11:14 AM JSR70LS5. Thank's for the reply ! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
I guess I will be ok just to be careful with the assembling and the cam break in. smile.gif

Stefan,
Check this thread

Stefan B Jan 4th, 04, 4:07 PM Wolfplace.That's good info. graemlins/beers.gif
I will consider this. I have a cross drilled crank so I'm planning to use a high volume oil pump for the 468 anyway and I'm a bit concerned about the lasting of the lobes with a solid.
The 408 in the chevelle had 3 wornout lobes ( when it was a 402 ;) ) when I purchased it, so I know what mess a wornout camlobe makes in a engine. :(
