I just pulled the 327 out of my 67 Chevelle and I am preparing to install a 454. Aside from changing the springs, I am wondering what other pitfalls may await. Everything looks pretty straight forward. It appears the motor mounts will be fine. Any suggestions and/or hints?

Do you have all the accessory brackets for a 67BB, such as for your alternator, ps and air? If so stick it in. If you are using headers, put them in first and tie them over to the side with something while you install the engine.

Check out http://www.chevelles.com/techref/tecref10.html .
Also you will need to decide if you want it like an original big block installation( like on the SS's), particulary with regards to going with a short water pump setup, which will dicate the accessory brackets and pulleys you use.

See June 99 Super Chevy for BB conversion info. BB will mount to the SB motor mounts but will be offset to one side and back, which makes headers on the driver side a pain. The proper mounts are reproduced. They also discuss accessory brackets, carb linkage, etc. Good luck.
