What pistons do you have? If you have a small dome pistons (.180 or so)you will have very low compression.

I'm going to change the pistons when I get that far. Will the heads need to be milled down if the combustion chamber is too big?

I'm wanting to put a edelbrock carb, cam, lifters, and intake on it. Would it be better to use the regular performer package or the performer rpm package?

..the only thing Edelbrock I would use would be the RPM intake..I would skip their cam.Not a good choice. What gear do you plan on using? Is this an auto or stick? If you use 049 heads, you will need a piston with a .319 dome to get some compression.

This car has a muncie four speed with 373 gears. What cam would you recommend? Also with a 319 dome piston what kind of CR could I get?

For a cam,try something in the 220-230 ish duration @ .050,up to .550 lift and 110 to 112 LSA

Be sure to note some relief work will need to be done to either the piston or head as these pistons are designed for closed chamber heads.

I just built a 402 with these pistons and the open chamber 820's..no problems.
You should be around 10.25 or so,depending on head cc's,etc.

I also have a .040 over 396 with those pistons and #820 heads. No clearance problem.

i was wondering the same thing...

with .04 quench and 122cc heads, you should be at 10:1 - that is exactly what i am doing...

my 215 puts me in the 11.5:1 range.... it doesnt like pump gas...
