As some of you have noticed I had to fix my wife's classroom computer with a fresh install of xp. I put the original hard drive back in as a slave drive as it has her documents and such on it. She needs to find a few email addresses. How do I find those on the slave drive(her old master drive)? TIA Pete

They are saved in her profile under C:\Documentsandsetting\USERNAME

Copy everything from this directory to your new drive.
If she had a PST, do a search for *.pst to locate it, shoudl be in her profile directory though. You may have to import the pst inside of outlook.

also, it is possible that your email info is kept on your ISP server. If you setup OE with your old email addy, the emails should still be there.

I hope that makes a lick of sense... on my way out the door.. I'm sure someone else will be more thorough.. Gotta bail....

Try looking here:
(your drive letter):\Documents and Settings\(user name)\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book
E-mails ,if saved ,will still be in the OE program when you open it.
If not ,might be still on the server so you can re-download.
Depends on how it was set up.

Found the addresses:

d:program files>>>outlook express>>>>wab

It would be nice if I could back up all her old emails for her. They were downloaded onto the computer so I assume they're still on it, somewhere. I'll keep plugging away at it. Thanks Pete

Outlook Express stores mail in a .dbx format. Check this link http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm for file locations as well as some good info regarding Outlook Express and proper maintenance of a mailbox within the program. As it states at the end of the instruction~ to NOT manually move the files~ I have had multiple success's doing it as long as the program versions were identical.

Good luck.
