I have a 72 nova with a 350/350 4.11s and a posi. brought it to the track this past weekend and it was giving me trouble. when i was doing my burnouts i would go from 1st to second... never a problem before but this time it would bog and die down. it would start about 3 or 4 seconds of cranking later. then when i would go down the track it was fine in first and third but in second gear it would surge real bad. ive put a few upgrades on it lately including a megashifter, 650 double pumper and a nitrous plate system(was not running nitrous nor was the bottle hooked up. solenoids were also on so no vacuum leaks there). it sounds like a fuel issue and thats what everone thinks but it only happens in second so it kinda leads me to beleive its a tranny issue. any thoughts?

Revs clean in first, dies in second but o.k. in third again ? Still sounds like a fuel problem and that's what you've been playing around with lately right ?
You have to try a pressure gage on the pump, change the filter, adjust the float levels, check for vacuum leaks at the carb and NOS plate etc. to rule fuel starving or a too lean issue out first.
Also what Ignition system are you running ?

its a hei unit with msd cap rotor and accel coil. i blew out the fuel line last night and no crud in it to report ill put a guage on it today and check what kind of pressure i have. i ran it at the track took the float level screws out and gas barely came out so they should be set right. i sprayed carb cleaner all around the plate and the idle didnt change so it should be all good too
