Hey guys, Some of you may remember this post from me not too long ago. Here (http://www.chevelles.com/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=021084;p=1)

Some of you quoted that i have way too much gear for my combo. DO you think that going to a 4.10 would help my top end speed...therefor a better ET?

Since that night i lashed my valves, the cam sounds way bigger now...removed front sway bar...went up 2 jet sizes in the back because of white exhaust pipes and did a leak down test. they were all around 1%, my builder did it infront of me (DRY) he said if he used oil they would be at zero...

So anyway, would the lower gear help me out ir hurt me?
Thanks
Ed

My '80 Camaro ET'd and 60 ft better with a 3.73 gears than with 4.10.
The 4.10 gearing reduced tire traction.

Since this a 400 (+ overbore) with a 350 crank, you very well might slow down. At what mph and rpm do you cross the finish line now? I have a 350 with 4.56 gears and wish I had gone with 4.88's. Don't be afraid of gears in a short stroke engine. If you find you are overreving at the strip, use a bigger diameter tire to compensate.

Since Comp spec's the cam from 4200 to 7200 rpm, I'd stick with the 4.56's. You should be running 11 flat at 120 mph @ 7200 rpm, with 28" tires and 10% converter slip. I'd also run the stall speed up to 4600-4800 rpm.
