I'm just curious what would happen. I would guess that you would hit the gas and then the natural vacuum of the engine would keep the throttle blades open or something? Dunno but curious since mine is kind of jerry-rigged..

Um, I would guess that your throttle would probably get stuck open and you would either crash your car or blow your motor if you didn't shut it down fast enough. Don't dick around with your throttle cable and spring setup, because it will come back to scare you.

Agreed, not something to mess with, a friend of mine rigged his spring, went to full throttle (he is a 16 year old kid in my churchs youth group) didn't think, and over revved it pretty bad. Lucky he didn't hit anyone, he just locked up his front breaks and was going a big burnout in traffic luckily. He ended up bending a rod from the over rev. This was in a 71 Nova.

I had been racing my car in LaGrange, Ga one Sunday evening. After the race I was on my way back home on the interstate doing about 70 mph. I was in the right lane and moved to the left lane to pass a car when my throttle return spring let go. Needless to say the car just started pulling like all outdoors and I was fast approaching traffic. I started standing on the brakes and smoke was going everywhere.(I guess from the brakes) the car kept pulling. I finally shifted the car into neutral and cut it off real fast and pulled to the side of the interstate. Needless to say I was sweating like a pig .Trust me you don't want to jerk around with andy springs on the carb.
