Nobody likes it, but trim tags are not illegal to sell buy or trade. You can have a brand new one made at www.trimtags.com. the only exception that I know of is, according to Dale, it's illegal in Oklahoma to remove,or sell them.

A trim tag by itself shouldn't be worth much. It is so hard to match up with a car's VIN to get value out of it (in a criminal way).

Since you have to:
Match build week to VIN sequence
Match model to VIN
Match optional equipment.
Match production plant to VIN

Would be very few cars this could match with.

Sold as a pair with a VIN, that is another story.

Doesn't look like he's got it for this one, but looking at his other auctions there are bright green zip ties on the corners drawing the eyes to a smaller plate underneath, which look very much like VIN tags to me. I went to an auction sale at a storage facility a year ago and there was a very rough '68 GTO ragtop there. The owner told me he sold the car a few years ago and all the guy took were the tags, the dash and some chrome trim. He didn't care because he got his money and was able to sell the car again as a parts car.
